Have you ever watched a Sema show in Istanbul? One of the spiritual things to do in Istanbul. With this tour you will witness this spiritual ritual!
Sema, that is, the Sema ceremony, is on UNESCO‘s list of Turkey’s intangible cultural heritage. The history of this ceremony belongs to the Mevlevi philosophy and dates back to the 13th century. If you are looking for something interesting to do in Istanbul, we are sure that you will be amazed while watching this 700-year-old cultural ritual!
During your Sema show experience, you will learn about Mevlana, the founder of the Mevlevi sect, and the whirling dervishes who are known for their world-famous sayings. You will also be able to visit the exhibition. In the exhibition, you will see information about dervishes and their ceremonies, the clothes they wore, musical instruments, personal instruments, and objects belonging to the dervish world such as books. Additionally, interactive Mevlana poems and Sufi music samples, Hyperrealist style dervish statues and Video shows are also part of this unique exhibition.
Then you will watch the Sema show at 19.00. The show will last approximately 1 hour. The ceremony consists of 7 parts about the birth of humanity and each has a different meaning.
